Restore the nighttime environment. Improve the light we use.
DarkSky South Florida works to restore the nighttime environment and protect communities and wildlife from light pollution through education, responsible-lighting guidance, public programs, partnerships, and constructive advocacy.
Why South Florida
South Florida brings major metropolitan areas into close relationship with coastlines, islands, wetlands, protected lands, residential neighborhoods, commercial corridors, and diverse nighttime habitats. Our region needs lighting approaches that respond to this complexity.
How we work
Our chapter is a multi-person organization. Members contribute different experience, relationships, and perspectives while shared governance, organizational accounts, and documented publishing systems keep the work durable as leadership changes.

As a regional chapter of DarkSky International, we connect local education and action with a worldwide movement working to restore the nighttime environment and protect communities and wildlife from light pollution. DarkSky International remains the authority for program terminology, certification, and global resources.
